2A DISTRICT 1-2 VOLLEYBALL

Lakeside 3, Clark Fork 0

PLUMMER — In a 2A Scenic Idaho Conference tournament loser-out match at Lakeside High, the No. 4 Lady Cats battled until the very end in a three-set loss (23-25, 22-25, 20-25) to the No. 2 Lady Knights.

Junior Aurora Lane contributed nine kills, four aces, and two blocks to lead Clark Fork on offense. Freshman Keira Gannon, who head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey said represents a bright future for the Lady Cats, had eight blocks, six digs and two kills.

Kiebert-Carey noted that sophomore Nora-Jean Hoy, who had six kills, three aces and six digs, had a great match and is really fitting well into her leadership role and knows she'll continue to thrive over the next couple of years.

After the match ended, Kiebert-Carey told her players that she was nothing but proud of them for all the heavy lifting they have done this season — understanding that to have success as a team, it's more than setting well and hitting well, it's to rise to the occasion all of the time regardless of outcome and be there for one another in one of most vulnerable sports this world has to offer.

"None of these girls have been afraid of a challenge this season," coach Kiebert-Carey said. "They never stopped working hard. It's hard to fall in three really close sets ... credit to Lakeside — strong servers, and their setter (Tylah Lambert) is top notch. Best of luck to them in the rest of districts."

Kiebert-Carey said she's excited to keep building the program and is grateful for every single one of her seniors for contributing to a program that will serve future generations well and teach young players what it means to play Lady Cat volleyball.

The following players all saw varsity minutes for Clark Fork, which finished the season 4-13: Seniors — Kayla Swales, Olivia Yetter, Rebecca Heilman, Cherish Christensen and Hannah Thompson; Juniors — Aurora Lane, Piper Scarlett, Azlyn Anderson; Sophomores — Nora-Jean Hoy; Freshman — Keira Gannon, Gracie Stevens.
