WBCSD approves continuous improvement plan

PRIEST RIVER — At the October meeting of the West Bonner County School District Board, trustees voted to adopt a final continuous improvement plan for the 2024–25 school year. 

All state districts are required to develop an improvement plan annually to create a roadmap for promoting student performance. The district’s administration team met twice to determine realistic, achievable goals for students before a draft came before trustees at a Sept. 24 special meeting, where community input was incorporated.

In the plan, district officials state they are proud of recent efforts to increase access to career technical education opportunities and student participation in them.  

“Given the nature of our community, these programs are critical to the long-term vitality of both our students and our region,” the plan read. 

The plan identified the need to improve English language arts performance in the district through interventions like hiring a district curriculum director. 

Additionally, the new continuous improvement plan identifies target scores for standardized tests like the English language arts and math variants of Idaho Standards Achievement Test and the Idaho Reading Indicator. 

“I think it looks good,” Board Chair Margaret Hall said of the plan at the Oct. 16 meeting. “I think we have targets to go for, and hopefully we’ll see them hit it or go above.” 

Once officially submitted to the state, the new continuous improvement plan will be published on the district’s website at sd83.org/board_information/goals.
