Grant window open for research proposals

| October 20, 2024 1:00 AM

The Idaho State Board of Education is accepting research proposals from state higher education institutions for its Idaho Global Entrepreneurial Mission grant program.

The program, administered by the board's Higher Education Research Council, has previously funded projects in cybersecurity, disaster response and a Food and Dairy Innovation Center.

The Idaho Legislature appropriates $2 million annually for IGEM grants. Selected proposals must align with the board's statewide higher education research strategic plan and leverage the talents and expertise of Idaho's research universities and private sector. Last year, the council funded nine IGEM projects.

Pre-proposals are due Oct. 28. Submitters will be notified by Dec. 13 whether their proposal will advance to the full proposal stage, due in late February 2025. Selection of successful applications will occur by May 1, 2025.

The Higher Education Research Council, formed in 1998, implements and administers the State Board of Education's higher education research policy and grant programs. The programs aim to stimulate competitive research at Idaho institutions.
