Will your candidate uphold Idaho's Constitution?

| October 22, 2024 1:00 AM

I’d like to ask the Idaho voters, do you believe your candidate will uphold the Idaho constitution?

Our state constitution, amended in 1911, grants the right of the voters to place initiatives and referendums on our ballots. It is the law of the land.

Except, in 1994 58% of Idahoans approved a term limit initiative for our elected officials. During the next eight years, the Idaho Legislature fought the people to dismiss it until they finally won in 2002. Despite the will of the people to exercise our constitutional rights, term limits were denied.

Also remember how often the Medicaid Expansion initiative, passed a couple of years back, is constantly threatened by the Legislature. Again, a successful initiative under fire.

Now in 2024, Prop 1 initiative legally qualified for the ballot. On Nov. 5 Idahoans will exercise our right to vote for it, or not.

Back to my original question Do you believe your candidate will accept the will of the people, if it passes, and make it law as our constitution instructs?

That, my friends, is an important question.

Choose wisely.
