Prop 1 is bad for Idaho, America

The purpose of political parties is to develop a platform of principles that its members agree to promote and guide the government if their chosen candidate wins the general election. People have the freedom to establish political parties. We have several parties in Idaho in addition to the traditional Democrat and Republican parties. Therefore, a voter can look at a party platform and quickly determine what their candidate stands for.

There is no need for open primaries, the only thing a voter has to do is join that party to vote in its primary.

Prop 1 will essentially do away with the political party system. It eliminates the present primary system replacing it with a jungle primary which only the top four candidates advance to the general election, freezing out anyone who decides to enter the race after the jungle election is held.

Prop 1 is not only bad for Idaho, but it is bad for America.
