Sauter, Woodward care about communities, residents
This is a letter of endorsement and support for candidates Mark Sauter and Jim Woodward. We've known both of these gentlemen for a number of years and have seen them contribute to our communities in so many ways outside of political office.
Mr. Sauter had a 30-year career in the fire/EMS service, which is all about protecting everyone in the community with no thought of the burning house's political affiliation. There's a refreshing point of view. And he volunteers and donates so much time that he's even guilted me into helping out now and then.
Likewise, Mr. Woodward spent many years in the U.S. Navy in the submarine corps, serving our country. Again, subs are neither Democrat nor Republican. And so many times when heavy equipment is needed to help out, Jim donates time and effort and money for us. Think of the old bleachers at Bonners Ferry and Memorial Field, as well as the women's shelter that needed to be removed, leveling the structures and hauling away the debris.
Both men are Republicans, trying to lower taxes and minimize government intrusion. But they've also taken time to learn about some of the unintended consequences for women's health care in our state. If North Idaho turns into a medical desert for our wives and daughters, our towns and communities will really suffer.
In closing, we wholeheartedly support Mark Sauter and Jim Woodward in November.
