A satirical 'yes' on Prop 1

| October 27, 2024 1:00 AM

Prop 1 is necessary to keep Idaho from sending extremists to the state capital. We must completely change the way our elections are held because our electorate is truly incapable of running, supporting and electing mainstream candidates that fairly represent Idaho values. How else can one explain those far-right radicals Jim Woodward and Mark Sauter winning their primaries? Oh, wait, never mind.

While the current purpose of a primary is for party members to select the candidate they want to advance to the general election, Prop 1 must be a great idea because every left-leaning voter, without exception, says so. Who better than the demographic minority in Idaho to redefine what a primary is and rewrite election rules? I’m sure that the outcomes would fairly reflect what the majority wants. After all, they promise it will all be sunshine and unicorns with no bad results or unintended consequences.

So please join the minority demographically challenged political party, funded in large part by out-of-state PAC money, in supporting Prop 1, so that they might have a chance of winning something, anything. We can’t just expect them to run candidates that actually represent the majority’s values or argue actual ideas in a convincing manner. Instead, we should help them change the rules of the game because historically proven systems are old and anti-suffragist and stuff. Prop 1 is the current trendy thing, and besides, what could possibly go wrong?
