Chopped Challenge returns to Priest River Library
Open to kids ages 0-18, Chopped Challenge is a monthly cooking contest modeled after the hit show of the same name.
Contestants compete by bringing their prepared dish that uses the secret ingredients along with a printed copy of their recipe for judging Nov. 2 at noon. Entries will be judged on presentation, creativity and taste. New this fall, the winner of November’s challenge will select the ingredients for December! November’s “secret” ingredients are cookies and cream.

WSU Master Gardeners to offer garden planning class
Washington State University Master Gardeners will present "Entire Year Garden Planning" at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at the WSU Extension Office, 227 S. Garden Ave., Newport.
Master Gardener Kamori Cattadoris will teach participants how to manage timing for various plantings, including when to start onions, peppers and tomatoes. The class will cover vegetables suitable for post-snow planting and overwintering for early spring harvest. Cattadoris will share monthly management tools and timing tips for both vegetable gardens and perennial care.
The class fee is $5, or $3 for Master Gardeners. Payment is accepted by check, money order, cash or PayPal.
