Arthur 'Art' DuFault, 86
Arthur (Art) William DuFault passed away peacefully Aug. 31, 2024, at the age of 86.
Art attended Humbolt State University where he graduated with a degree in forestry. He worked for the Forest Service for many years on the Angeles, Sequoia, Shasta Trinity and Willamette National Forests. He was the deputy supervisor of the Deschutes National Forest and supervisor on the Winema National Forest. In 1986, Art was appointed to oversee the implementation of the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area in Hood River Oregon.
He later worked as director of the Utah Division of Sovereign Lands and Forestry with the Utah Department of Natural Resources.
His true passion was boats and throughout the years he acquired the skills to be a boat builder and was active in several boating communities, he built his first boat with his father Armand in the late 1950s and also built several flatbottom boats in the 1960s.
He retired to Laclede, Idaho, where he met his wife, Sandra DuFault, and enjoyed his lakefront home.
Art is preceded in death by his father, Armand DuFault; and his mother, Hazel DuFault.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his sister, Lorraine Kengla; his two children, Alex DuFault and Jill Zertuche; and his grandchildren, Kayla Loranger, Brent DuFault and Payton Zertuche.
