Luke Omodt owed thanks for serving all residents

| September 8, 2024 1:00 AM

I was thinking the other day of my eighth-grade graduation at Northside School in 1955. Our class motto was: “Perseverance in Spite of Adversity.”

When my husband and I boarded the “Let’s elect Luke” train 2 1/2 years ago, we knew him only by his parent’s reputation and our long-time friendship with and respect for his wife’s family. We concluded that he was cut from good cloth, was a hard worker, contributed to the general welfare of others through his employment and volunteer work and would be a responsible representative of the best interests of Bonner County residents.

I am thankful for elected officials who strive to represent their constituents by studying issues before casting a vote, by following the rules of law and not their emotions so that all of us can all expect to be treated uniformly. Luke Omodt has done that.

Luke, it may take time to recover from the slings and arrows that have come your way, but Skip and I want you to know how much we appreciate your high moral compass, your dedication and devotion to the work to be done, your standing up for our county employees who also give their best and are rewarded with less pay than they deserve and take the brunt of criticism from residents who want their services increased but their taxes lowered.

Thank you, Luke, for persevering in spite of adversity — for acting in the best interests of all of the residents of Bonner County.
