Sept. 10, 1974 – KATHY COULSTON ENGAGED

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth H. Coulston announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathy L., to Gary W. McConnell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul McConnell, Spokane. Miss Coulston, a SHS graduate with a practical nursing degree from Spokane Community College, is nursing at Interlake School, Medical Lake. McConnell, a Shadle Park High and Spokane Falls Community College graduate, served in the U.S. Navy and is now employed in Spokane. A November wedding is being planned.

MARLENE BANKS JOINS MERLE NORMAN

Mrs. Joyce Gonzales, owner of Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio, said Mrs. Marlene Banks a licensed beautician and wig and cosmetic specialist, has joined her staff. Mrs. Banks came here from Anaheim, Calif.  She and her husband, Jerry, and son, Dale, age 7, are building a home at Samuels.

MARY KAY OLSON ENGAGEMENT TOLD

Mr. and Mrs. Venoy Olson, Sandpoint, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Mary Kay, to William M. Fansler, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William M. Fansler, Amarillo, Texas. Miss Olson is a graduate of Sandpoint High School. Fansler graduated from Tascosa High School and Stephen F. Austin State University, Texas. They are both employed by the Forest Service at Trout Creek, Montana. An Oct. wedding is planned in the First Lutheran Church in Sandpoint.

Sept. 10, 1949 – HORSE SHOW PARADE

A.R. Nelson, Mrs. Velma Black and Ross Hall will be judges for the Sandpoint Saddle club’s parade and horse show on Saturday. Prizes, donated by Warren’s Tire Shop, Jennestad’s and Brown Buick Co., will be awarded for the funniest, most original and most attractive float or costume. The children’s prize will be donated by the Saddle club. The parade will assemble at the intersection of Main and Cedar at 2 p.m. Saturday; judging will take place in front of the old bank building at Cedar and Second.

CONTINUOUS WIZARD OF OZ MATINEE

To accommodate the hundreds of men, women and children wanting to see one of the greatest films ever made…the Panida Theatre is holding a Special Continuous Matinee Saturday, with doors opening at 1:00 p.m. for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s “The Wizard of Oz,” starring Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Bert Lahr, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley and Billie Burke.

$3000 IS BURGLAR’S LOOT

Thieves broke into the Sandpoint Cold Storage Monday night and stole the week end receipts, amounting to about $2000. The robbery was discovered and reported Tuesday morning to city police by Loren Book, one of the owners of the market, which sells groceries and meats and rents locker boxes. Entrance to the building was gained through a small back room.
