Clark Fork 3, Mullan 0

CLARK FORK — Out of her 25 serves on the night, junior Aurora Lane registered 17 aces and the Lady Cats swept the Lady Tigers (25-8, 25-5, 25-20) for their first win of the season Tuesday at Clark Fork High.

“The thing about her serving tonight that really impressed me is that in practice we have been really drilling serving spots because that’s one way we want to be dominant as a team this year,” Clark Fork High head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey said. “She (Aurora) served every spot that we told her — just impressive.”

Sophomore Nora-Jean Hoy had nine assists and seven aces, junior Piper Scarlett five aces of her own as Clark Fork scored the first 22 points of the second set in their 3-0 victory.

“I knew tonight would be the story of serving and I was pleased with our spots ability,” coach Kiebert-Carey said.

Before the match, coach Kiebert-Carey wrote on the team white board in the locker room, “Clark Fork volleyball is…” The girls responded with words like tough, enthusiastic and loyal.

“This season I really want the girls to take ownership over what people see when we go out on the court,” coach Kiebert-Carey said. “I challenged the girls to really live that tonight and I feel like I did see a lot of that; I want to bring a lot of that energy into Thursday.

Clark Fork (1-4) hosts Genesis Prep on Thursday for a 2A Scenic Idaho Conference matchup.

Bailey shows out in Lady Bulldog loss

Lake City 3, Sandpoint 1

SANDPOINT — Senior Calie Bailey had a team-high 28 assists and added nine digs for the Lady Bulldogs in a four-set loss to Timberwolves (19-25, 25-23, 19-25, 17-25) at Les Rogers Court on Tuesday.

"Calie played with a fire I've never seen before," Sandpoint High head coach Piper Wahlin said. "She put up amazing set after amazing set for her hitters and played some great defense. Not only did she run her offense, but she was keeping Lake City on their toes with her own aggressive attacks."

Coach Wahlin said as a team, Sandpoint played disciplined defense, noting senior Audrey Petruso's team-high 13 digs, and that the Lady Bulldogs played aggressive from the service line.

Sandpoint (0-6) travels to Post Falls on Thursday.
