Prop 1 will bring us together, not pull us apart

First, I would like to thank Ted Olson for both his service and personal sacrifice in serving our country.

Being a veteran myself, however, I found the statement that Mr. Olson is "truly embarrassed" by fellow veterans for supporting Proposition 1 incredibly condescending. He then asks the question, "How many are actual combat vets?" This implies that veterans who were not in combat are somehow less justified in voicing their opinions. Obviously, not all veterans share the same opinions but I think we can all agree that we value our freedom. For me, that includes the freedom to have the opportunity to vote for whomever I choose. In the words of Lee Greenwood, "I am proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free … and I'll gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today."
I believe Prop 1 brings us closer to standing together, as Americans, rather than identifying as "red" or "blue." We're bigger than that.
