Cooper honored as Idaho's 'Brightest Star'
The "Brightest Star" in Idaho is shining bright in Priest River.
Serve Idaho, the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism, recognized Lynn Cooper from Priest River with Idaho’s Brightest Star Award for her exceptional volunteer service.
Priest River Advocates for Women nominated Cooper for her exceptional work supporting the nonprofit's mission to provide peace, friendship and encouragement for hurting and frightened women.
“Lynn’s willingness to jump into whatever area of support needed, each and every time she is here, has blessed our ministry immeasurably,” Executive Director Julie Bruceri with Advocates for Women said. “Her contagious smile brings joy to the office, and her soft, caring heart brings calm in the storm when needed.”
Cooper has volunteered 265 hours at Advocates for Women since May 2023. She has provided significant support by painting and setting up the counseling office, cleaning the emergency shelters, transporting clients, picking up and stocking supplies and food, cleaning the child respite care center and working the outreach booth at events.
"Her impact on our organization cannot be narrowed down to one single event or person," Jani Revier, director of the Idaho Department of Labor, said in reading from Cooper's nomination by Bruceri. "We all have seen and experienced what an asset she is to our organization."
Cooper also serves at the Priest Lake Christian Community Outreach Association and the Priest Lake Thrift Shop.
Idaho’s Brightest Star Award recognizes outstanding volunteers from across the state. It is a partnership between Gov. Little’s office, Serve Idaho and the Idaho Nonprofit Center.
