John Campbell, 79

John Raymond “Skip” Campbell, 79, passed away Aug. 26, 2024, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Born on Jan. 11, 1945, in Jefferson, Ohio, John dedicated his life to his family, work, and service to his country.

John served valiantly in the United States Navy for two years before transitioning to the Army where he continued for another four years. His commitment to service was a testament to his character and patriotism. 

Following his military career, John, alongside his wife, Mabel, managed a laundry business in Sandpoint for four years. He later joined the Independent Highway Department, where he worked for 20 years, followed by a tenure at the city of Sandpoint for seven years, always ensuring his work was completed with utmost diligence and care.

A member of the Sandpoint United Methodist Church, John was deeply spiritual, praying for peace and love globally. His faith was a cornerstone of his existence, guiding him through life’s challenges and joys.

John was a man of many interests, including gardening and traveling. He took great pride in maintaining a beautiful yard and loved driving, exploring new places with enthusiasm.

He is survived by his wife, Charmayne Campbell; brother Richard and his wife, Cheryl Campbell; sister-in-law Glenda Campbell; stepchildren John and Melanie Garner, Lori and Don Heins, Jacque and Shawn Morrenzin; as well as eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, to whom he was married for 42 years, and his brothers, Lorne and Bill.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Kootenai Health or Schneidmiller House in CDA.
