Don't fall for rank choice voting

| September 17, 2024 1:00 AM

Don't fall for the rank choice voting trap. It's a divide and conquer game.

Rank choice voting snuck into Alaska during a low voter turnout election. When it came to replace Alaska representative Don Young after he passed away, the Democrats didn't "rank the blue," rather they backed one candidate almost unanimously. Republicans "ranked the red" and ended up with two leading Republican candidates. Together, the two Republican candidates had a majority of votes, but neither Republican candidate standing alone had the highest percentage. The Democrat won the election. Alaska now has gone from a red state to a blue state thanks to rank choice voting.

Could it have worked in favor of the Republicans in Alaska? Yes, but sorry to say the Democrats are better at playing the game than Republicans are. Rank choice voting is a Democrat game and strategy. Why do they support rank choice voting and are going state by state to push it through. Don't fall for rank choice voting.

What happened in Alaska can happen in Idaho and in any state. Repealing rank choice voting is on the Alaska ballot, they learned the hard way.
