POST FALLS — At the Real Life Fields, the visiting Spartans held their own against the host Panthers in Intermountain League play on Friday.

Junior Baylor White had 10 saves for Priest River, which lost to CDA Charter 10-0 last year, marking signs of vast improvement.

Priest River High head coach Ryan Carruth said he was extremely proud of the collective effort from his team, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

"We wanted to be organized defensively, keeping our lines tight and our shape compact, and I thought the boys went out and executed well to limit the chances of a dangerous attacking team," coach Carruth said. "We have to be a lot tidier with the ball and improve our passing and final ball accuracy going forward on the counter if we want to have a chance to be a real threat, offensively, against the top teams in the league. It's definitely a result we can take some confidence from and build off."

Carruth said White was a "beast" in goal, and that junior Jayden Stevens, senior Carter Cook and senior Cameron Howell all posted fantastic performances at the back line.

Priest River (3-4) will host St. Maries for senior night Monday.
