Raffle to benefit Native Plant Arboretum

| September 20, 2024 1:00 AM

Kinnikinnick Native Plant Society is putting the “fun” in “fundraising” this fall with a benefit celebration of the North Idaho Native Plant Arboretum's 25th anniversary. Dedicated on Arbor Day in 1999, the arboretum at Lakeview Park stands as a resource showcasing the beauty and importance of native plants.

The community is invited to join KNPS members, friends and the community at large Thursday, Sept. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Matchwood Brewery for a family friendly event with live music, children’s activities and information about the arboretum.

Raffle tickets are being sold for a host of prizes, including an original oil painting by local landscape artist Ed Robinson. Other baskets include spa packages, local fine dining, gardening goodies and more. Raffle prizes are valued from $100 to $300. Winners will be drawn at the end of the evening and notified to arrange pick up. The community can view raffle prizes or purchase tickets all day Thursday as well as during the celebration event.

During the past year, KNPS developed a master plan for the Arboretum as an effort to evaluate its status and make recommendations for the next 25 years. Education about native plants is a high priority. Raffle proceeds will be used for the development of kid-friendly signage and new educational programs in the arboretum, as well as supporting KNPS’ ongoing Tree Tours for third graders and Tree Cookie Tuesdays each summer.

Thursday has become an unofficial family night at Matchwood, so bring the family for delicious Matchwood eats and drinks, or just stop by to support educational programs in the Arboretum.
