DUI task force joins 'One More Stop' campaign
The North Idaho DUI Task Force will join the Washington State Patrol in a regional DUI enforcement operation, ceremoniously coined “One More Stop,” to honor the legacy of fallen Trooper Christopher Gadd on Friday, Sept. 27.
Earlier this year, March 2, Trooper Gadd was working his patrol shift near Marysville, Wash., when he told fellow officers he would join them for a break after making “one more stop” before the end of his shift. Tragically, that stop was his last after being struck and killed by an impaired driver.
The joint operation Sept. 27 will involve increased patrols across both states, aiming to deter impairment incidents and ensure that drivers are held accountable for their choices. This effort will not only pay tribute to the fallen trooper but also serve as a critical reminder of our team’s ongoing mission to prevent impaired driving deaths.
The North Idaho DUI Task Force is proud to support WSP’s “One More Stop” initiative as a tribute to Trooper Gadd’s commitment to public safety and continuing the legacy of his unyielding passion for saving lives through the prevention of impaired driving. By coming together with our partners in Washington, we hope to prevent tragedies like this from occurring in the future.
“What happened to Trooper Gadd that day is a stark reminder for all of us about the dangers of drunk driving and the tremendous consequences of a single decision,” said Sergeant Austin Rosedale of the Idaho State Police. “No one deserves to lose a loved one to impaired driving, and yet no one is immune to the perilous dangers of it either. It is our duty, and our honor, to uphold his memory by working together to keep our roads safe.”
Community members are encouraged to support the initiative by planning ahead for safe transportation options if they intend to drink or consume intoxicating substances.
