PREP GOLF: Mire leads Lady Bulldogs to crushing victory at The Links

POST FALLS — Senior Taylor Mire shot an even-par 73 and the Sandpoint High girls’ golf team finished 1-2-3-4 at the Lakeland Invitational held Thursday at The Links Golf Club, winning the team title by an astounding 46 strokes.
Mire finished nine strokes ahead of teammate and second-place finisher Claire Loutzenhiser, who shot a season-best 82. Alexa Tuinstra and Raegan Samuels came in third and fourth, respectively, carding an 83 and 84. Senior Demi Driggs rounded out the top five, shooting an 88, good enough for a tie for sixth overall. The Lady Bulldogs finished with a total score of 322, 46 strokes ahead of runner-up Coeur d’Alene.
On the boys’ side, Sandpoint finished fourth out of seven scoring teams, their best team finish so far this season. Sophomore Bode Eacret carded a 8-over-par 81, junior Micah Young an 82 to lead the way. Junior Cooper Zimmerman shot an 86, junior Logan Roos an 88, to round out the Bulldogs’ top four. Junior Everett Gilman finished with a 98 in the No. 5 spot while junior Logan McGrann posted a score of 92 playing as an individual.
Sandpoint will be back in action on Sept. 30. The girls will play at the Hayden Lake Country Club, the boys at the Avondale Golf Club.
