APPROVE SANDPOINT BUDGET

Sandpoint City Council unanimously approved the $3.64 million budget for 1975. Justifying the jump from $700,000 in 1972, Councilman Bud Benoit, finance committee chairman, said this budget reflects “huge capital outlays which are not recurring expenses, but are required every 10 years or so.”

YES, THE SNOW GETS DEEP ENOUGH

The Chamber of Commerce recently puzzled how to answer an inquiry from an Ohio woman. After saying she planned a move to Sandpoint, she then asked “Do you wear boots in the winter? Does snow get deep enough to shovel?” It was decided the most accurate answer in view of this year’s record snows would be “Madam, the snow here gets too deep to shovel. You can get a pair of snowshoes for the combined price of a shovel and a pair of boots.”
