'We, the people,' do not support DEI
Nancy Renk asked in her letter “If you oppose DEI, what are you for?”
The majority are for American values and want their government actions to be consistent with the pursuit of equality, meritocracy, and color blindness for the achievement of success. Every individual U.S. citizen should be challenged to achieve their maximum potential without any prejudice based on race, ethnic group, religion, national origin, or sexual orientation. Our US civil rights laws and policies of the past have served us well. Too often political leftists distort or outright ignore the facts of our civil rights progress history. The existing laws and policies can be trusted to continue to improve and assure progress in opportunities to all legal citizens in our diverse society. USA democratic government is not there to restrict opportunity for some of our citizens; we should not fund racist ideology and victim mentality as many DEI programs were doing with our tax dollars.
Government needs to continue to do better to support effective assistance to all communities with the right to equal opportunity and access to education and jobs. The first Trump administration had proven success in improving opportunities in our great country. In spite of more leftists attempts to limit success, I think he will succeed again.
Equity, as the word is used in woke DEI, aims for attempting equality of outcome. Trying to do so in favor of certain groups is directly opposite to our treasured principle of equality, which aims for equality of rights for individuals.
We the people elected Donald Trump; It is now historical fact that the voting majority in 86% of the nation's counties and 100% of Idaho counties desired major political and societal changes. Also a fact is that our constitutional process of the electoral college majority agreed.
Our American democracy resoundingly said NO more to the last administration actions of using government to intrude on our individual rights, increase our energy costs, increase inflation, spend our tax monies on racist/woke ideology, promote illegal immigration, limit personal freedoms and embrace globalism over patriotism. So much to fix but I for one am more optimistic now for our future.
