We've all be scammed on water quality protections

Note to all local planners: All humans create waste every day, even rich people. I know, it doesn’t seem fair, does it?

Interested in Lake Pend Oreille water quality? Go online to mywaterway.epa.gov/community/83864/overview.

Two big problems are the Sandpoint wastewater treatment plant and Kootenai Ponderay Sewer District.

Growth should be managed or planned. Normally, houses are not built until there is a place to treat sewage. Like the Southside Water and Sewer District 20 years ago.

Based on that concept, Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, the city and KPSD planners have failed us miserably.

Neither plant has been upgraded in the past 20 years, beyond a new digester cover back around 2003 for Sandpoint. KPSD is using 1950s technology and has turned Boyer Slough into the final stage of their sewage plant.

Not only has the city refused to upgrade its treatment plant, they jumped over to Providence Road to supply water that will end up further overloading the KPSD plant. That plant discharges to City Beach and Sandpoint’s drinking water intake. How perverse is that?

This is nothing short of an assault on every living creature in the area.

It has been allowed by IDEQ, which is only in existence to keep this from happening.

There is no way to remove pollution once it is in the lake. It will be a minimum of five years before any new plant is operational.

Why would sewage be added to an already overloaded plant? Greed.

Why has IDEQ allowed this? Ignorance? Incompetence?

LPO Waterkeeper was a hoax. Did you hear about this when they were here?

We've all been scammed.
