ALL-IDAHO GIRLS, BOYS BASKETBALL: Mire named to Second Team
GIRLS
Sandpoint High sophomore guard Brecken Mire was named to the 5A All-Idaho Second Team, announced Wednesday by the Idaho Statesman of Boise, which publishes the results after a statewide vote by coaches.
Mire averaged 15 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.7 steals and 1 block per game across 25 games played this season for the Lady Bulldogs. She shot an impressive 45% from the floor (127-for-282) and 73% from the free throw line (107-for-146) in addition to hitting 12 3-pointers on the year.
5A ALL-IDAHO GIRLS BASKETBALL
PLAYER OF THE YEAR — Abby Lusk, Pocatello.
COACH OF THE YEAR — Sunny Evans, Pocatello.
FIRST TEAM — Kennasyn Garza, Pocatello; Shay Shippen, Skyline; Zoey Blackwell, Middleton; Mia Williams, Shelley.
SECOND TEAM — Addison Tanner, Blackfoot; Lexi Longhurst, Mountain Home; Brynlee Riedle; Brooke Hutchinson, Bishop Kelly; Brecken Mire, Sandpoint.
BOYS
Senior guard Asher Williams of Bonners Ferry was named Player of the Year for the third straight year in the 4A (then 3A) classification. Williams, a Montana Tech commit, averaged 28.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.3 steals across 25 games for the Badgers, who won their second straight state title.
Bonners Ferry senior guard Thomas Bateman was also named to the 4A All-Idaho First Team. Bateman, who has now received such an honor for the second straight season, averaged 16.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game across 25 starts this season.
Senior Brody Rice of Bonners Ferry was named to the 4A All-Idaho Second Team for the first time in his career. Rice averaged 8.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.6 assists across 25 games this season.
Nathan Williams of Bonners Ferry was named 4A Coach of the Year for the second straight season after posting a record of 24-1, boasting 4A's top offense (74.7 points per game) and leading the Badgers to another state title. In five seasons as head coach of the Badgers, he holds a winning percentage of .776 (90-26).
