Mary Ann Cooper, 80

Mary Ann Cooper, 80, was called home to her Savior Jesus on Thursday, March 6, 2025, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in Sandpoint, Idaho, with Father Dave Walker officiating.

Mary Ann was born Aug. 14, 1944, in Altadena, Calif., to Ralph and Ann Hutcheson. She grew up in Sierra Madre and attended Ascension Parish Day School and Church of the Ascension for the first 23 years of her beautiful life. She sang all the time, all the church hymns, which she knew by heart. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1962.

She attended Crawford Long School of Nursing in Atlanta, part of Emory University. Mary Ann married Andrew Cooper on June 24, 1967, at Church of the Ascension in Sierra Madre. She then completed her nurse's training at Sacramento City College and went to work at Kaiser Foundation Hospital as an LVN. She later completed her RN and continued to work at Kaiser.

She worked as a nurse for Kaiser in Sacramento for 30 years. She, and her husband, Andrew, then moved to Sandpoint in 1997 and worked for Sandpoint Pediatrics.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Dover, she was a member of the D.A.R., Wildhorse Trail Chapter, and the Colonial Dames in Coeur d’Alene. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and North Idaho Chorale. She enjoyed traveling, cruises, crafting, crocheting, her dogs, cats, and birds.

She is survived by her husband, Andy Cooper of Sagle; son, Vincent (Angela) Cooper of Minden, La.; daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Carter of Sandpoint; three grandchildren, Emma (Jeramiah) Thorn, Claire Carter, and Andrew Dean Cooper of Minden, La.; and one niece, Victoria Carrillo of Laverne, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Michael.

Praise God she is in Glory now, her name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and no more suffering, amen.
