Rotary Club holding annual flower basket sale

| April 6, 2025 1:00 AM

Looking for something to brighten your garden and help a good cause at the same time?

Ponderay Rotary is again selling hanging flower baskets to raise money for its scholarship program. This is the fifth year the club has sold these baskets.

Baskets are large and feature a wide variety of different flowers.

“You would spend about $70 or more for this type of quality basket at a retail store," said Tiffany Goodvin, Ponderay Rotary member. “We sell them for $45 which is a great value."

The club usually sells out, so Goodvin urged those interested to place orders soon through the club's website — ponderayrotaryclub.com — or by mailing a check to: Ponderay Rotary Club, P.O. Box 813, Ponderay, ID 83852.

The baskets will be available for pickup May 7 in town. Additional details will be announced closer to that date, Ponderay Rotary officials said.

“The club enjoys this fundraiser because the customer is usually very happy to bring home beautiful flowers, and it reminds us that spring is here,” Goodwin added.

The Rotary Club has supported scholarship opportunities for local high school graduates and those who wish to continue their education for 18 years. In 2024, the club distributed over $43,000.

Students wishing to apply for a Ponderay Rotary Scholarship should check either the club's website or the Sandpoint High School website for an application. Scholarships are not limited to those in college with those pursuing training at trade schools and certifications also encouraged to apply.

Anyone who is interested in making a donation to the Scholarship Fund can also visit the Ponderay Rotary website and become a sponsor. By either donating or purchasing a flower basket, community residents can join the Rotary in helping local youth become tomorrow's leaders and achieve their dreams.
