| April 9, 2025 1:00 AM

The Clark Fork High trap shooting team's 2025 spring season is officially underway with nine athletes — three returners and six newcomers — completing a week of practice last week at the Sandpoint Gun Club in Sagle.

Rebecca Heilman (12th grade), Kyler Heilman (ninth) and Breckham Noble (eighth) all return and will lead the way for the Wampus Cats. New to the team this season are Augustus Fisher (seventh), Wade Taylor (seventh), Brower Lindgren (eighth), Landon Thompson (eighth), Curtis Sommerfeld (ninth) and Tristin Mackaben (10th). The team, which is sponsored by Clark Fork Beverage, Clark Fork VFW Post 10320 and Friends of the NRA , extends a special thanks to all the adults who showed up to support them with the proper safety, shooting techniques and fundamentals as they began their 2025 campaign.

"This team has shown great potential in the first week and we look forward to watching them be highly competitive this season," coach Travis Heilman said.

The Wampus Cats will shoot for scores April 20, April 27, May 4, May 11, May 18 and June 14 at the Idaho Trap Shooting State Tournament in Boise. During the regular season, they'll compete in the Class 1A Conference 1 against teams such as Emmett, Hagerman, Innovate Academy and Preparatory School, Marsing, Middleton, Payette, St. Maries and Timberlake.
