Idaho Department of Fish and Game prepares Panhandle trout stock

| April 9, 2025 1:00 AM

In preparation for summer, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game is stocking North Idaho lakes with more than 38,000 rainbow trout throughout April.

Bonner County lakes are among the bodies of water that will receive fish; Cocolalla, Round, Kelso and Jewel lakes are slated to receive 9,330, 2,500, 2,500, and 1,620 trout, respectively.

In a press release, IDFG regional communications manager T.J. Ross said that fishing for stocked trout in community ponds is a cost-effective and beginner-friendly way to get into the sport.

An Idaho annual adult fishing license costs around $30. Junior licenses (ages 14-17) cost $16 and youth under 14 fish for free. Residents and visitors can purchase a license online, at a Fish and Game office or at a local vendor.
