SANDPOINT — Paul Gunter was recently honored as its March Volunteer of the Month by the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce.

After the November 2024 Holiday Tree Lighting event, Paul approached Sandpoint Chamber Executive Director, Mickey Quinn, and offered his help.

“I have some ideas to help the chamber with this event next year,” Gunter told Quinn. “If you are interested, I think we can make this event even more successful for everyone involved.”

The chamber was thrilled with Paul’s suggestion, and officials said they are looking forward to implementing his ideas for November 2025.

In addition to reaching out to volunteer when he sees an opportunity to make a local event, such as the holiday tree lighting even better, Gunter volunteers his time and talents in many other ways throughout the community. Paul offered his time to provide lights and sound, in cooperation with the Festival at Sandpoint and the Pend d’Oreille Winery, for the block party after the Winter Carnival Parade of Lights on Feb. 14. Paul has supported the Angels Over Sandpoint, Lost in the ‘50s, and the Panida.

Much of Paul’s volunteering is education based. He is involved in producing pre-K school programs, events, and concerts; providing music, equipment, and DJ services for pre-K and elementary school functions; donating percussion instruments to area preschools and does volunteering in-class.

Through his position with the Festival at Sandpoint, Paul provides free music classes for four area pre-k schools, donates production services to local events and functions, and sits on various community and educational committees.

Chamber officials invited the community to join them in celebrating Paul Gunter as the organization’s top volunteer for March.
