Road weight limits continue to ease

| April 13, 2025 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Road weight limits are beginning to lift on some of the county's roads; however, restrictions remain on many with no hauling permitted on several, according to Bonner County Road & Bridge officials.

In District 1 (south of the Long Bridge), restrictions remain on Blacktail Road (from Butler Creek Spur to Little Blacktail), Dockins Road, Sunset Road, Curtis Creek Road (gravel section only), the south end of Merril Martin Road, Talache Road south of E. Dufort Road, Jewel Lake Road, Schneiders Road, Lignite Road, Martin Bay Road, Glengary Bay Road, Churchill Road, S. Sagle Road (south of E. Dufort Road), Otts Basin Road, Eichs Road and Sherwoods Road.

No hauling is permitted on Comeback Bay Lane, E. Comeback Bay Lane, Birch Haven Drive, Birch Banks Road, Hanford Drive, Sweeney Drive, Hanley Lane, Bella Circle, Hillside Drive, the north end of Merril Martin Road, Whittum Road and Willford Road. This means that the roads are only open to regular, residential traffic and that no trailers or loaded truck beds are allowed.

District 2 (Priest River/Priest Lake) — A number of roads in the district have had weight restrictions lifted. However, among those with restrictions remaining include Eastshore Road as well as many other roads in the district. As a reminder, red flags indicate restrictions are in effect.

In addition, the section of Eastshore Road between Indian Creek Park Road and Canoe Point Road is posted as no hauling.

District 3 (Sandpoint/Clark Fork) — Road restrictions have been lifted from most roads in the Hope and Clark Fork area with the exception of Mosquito Creek, W. Spring Creek and Trestle Creek roads. Hauling is not permit for the stretch of Eastshore Road from Indian Creek Park Road to Canoe Point Road.

All other roads in the Sandpoint and Elmira areas are still posted with weight limits.

Per county ordinance, it is the responsibility of the hauler to contact the Bonner County Road & Bridge Department to determine whether or not these restrictions are in place. The restrictions will remain in effect until changed, at which time updates will be posted.
