April 22, 1975 – HURDY GURDY FOR ALL

“Fun for the whole family” is the theme of the recently opened Hurdy Gurdy Ice Cream and Record Shoppe, located at 204 N. First [in 2025, the City Beach Bistro]. Owner Jerry Hertz designed the shoppe to create the atmosphere of an old time ice cream parlour, to appeal to all ages. He hopes to have 12 ice cream varieties by summer. Besides cones, they serve sundaes, milk shakes, floats and banana splits. Fresh fruit sundaes will be a summer specialty. In the shoppe’s rear is a record ordering service that takes only four days to receive records; used records will also be sold on consignment.

FFA WINS HONORS AT STATE MEET

The SHS Future Farmers of America club added an array of honors to its impressive record of recent years at the annual Idaho FFA convention in Twin Falls. The SHS Farm Safety Committee, chaired by Tom Woodland; the Building Our American Communities group led by Brian Dockins; and the Parliamentary Procedure team, (Woodland, Rick Thompson, Nathan Rasor, Lance Czarapata, Jesse LaGrace and chairman Steve Rasor) all took first place awards. In addition the SHS club earned a coveted gold award for its chapter scrapbook and was acknowledged with a superior chapter award.

Still not done, the SHS delegation saw member Barbara Remsen elected to the office of state reporter. Earlier Miss Remsen and Steve Rasor were awarded the State Farmer degree.
