Feb. 18, 1975 – PHD SURVEYS SHORELINES

About 1200 miles of shoreline that have been or are undergoing development in the five northern counties are being surveyed by Panhandle Health District for adequate sewage disposal systems. In Bonner County, environmental quality specialists Bob Camp and Ken Babin conducted surveys on the shoreline of the Pend Oreille River from Albeni Falls Dam to the west boundary of the Southside sewer district at Springy Point last summer. A study was also made of the Cocolalla Lake shoreline. The surveys are to evaluate present systems and gain insights on possible future development.

BURGLARY OF TAVERN ON CEDAR

Entering the Tam O’Shanter tavern on Cedar street some time early Monday by jimmying the front door, thieves stole nine and a half cases of various brands of beer, 22 cartons of cigarettes, and boxed candy and cartons of candy bars. The robbery was reported to the city police by Leonard Haugse who was on his way home and noticed the broken lock. It is surmised the thieves were frightened away before they finished rifling the place, as nickles [sic] from the five cent slot machine, which they had broken open, were scattered over the floor.
