Selkirk Fire to host open houses

| February 20, 2025 1:00 AM

SAGLE — As local fire districts prepare to place levy override requests on the May 20 ballot, Selkirk Fire Rescue & EMS will host open houses at two of its stations Saturday.

The events will give residents an opportunity to meet local firefighters, see their engines and equipment and talk with Fire Chief Jeff Armstrong about the proposed levies in the Northside, Westside and Sagle fire districts.

If 66% of voters approve the levy requests in May, an increased tax burden paid by property owners in Sagle, Dover, Ponderay, Kootenai and other Bonner County areas would expand the fire departments’ budgets.

Armstrong has said the levies would allow the districts to replace aging vehicles and equipment and prevent them from having to scale back their services.

The open houses will take place 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Careywood Fire Station, 456055 Highway 95, Careywood; and 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Sagle Fire Station, 2689 Gun Club Road, Sagle.
