Feb. 23, 1975 – WILSONS OBSERVE 50TH

Mr. and Mrs. True Wilson will be honored with a reception Mar. 2 from 2 to 4 o’clock in the United Methodist Church social hall, in observance of their golden wedding anniversary. Hostesses will be their daughters, Mrs. E.J. (Lenore) Messmore and Mrs. Bob (Marilla) Schoonover. True Wilson and Geneva Bair were married Mar. 4, 1925 in Lamar, Colo. They farmed in eastern Colorado until they, their two daughters, and the Bair family, migrated to Idaho in 1935, settling at their present homesite overlooking Sandpoint and Lake Pend Oreille.

TRACY DEXTER ENDS TRAINING

Marine PFC Tracy L. Dexter, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Dexter, Sandpoint, was meritoriously promoted to his present rank upon graduation from recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, receiving the promotion in recognition of outstanding performance in all phases of training.

WIN BETTY CROCKER AWARDS

Scott J. Dockins, Clark Fork High School, and Bradley D. Palmen, Sandpoint High School, have been named 1975 Betty Crocker Family Leaders of Tomorrow for their respective high schools, winning the honor by scoring high in a written exam given to high school seniors throughout the country. They will receive a special award from General Mills and become eligible for state and national honors.

Feb. 23, 1950 – WILL REBUILD

Plans to rebuild the Church of the Nazarene which was recently destroyed by fire are underway, it was announced by Rev. Jay Witt, pastor. The new structure will be erected on the site of the one which burned [NW corner of Fourth and Church].

ENJOY BIRTHDAY PARTY

Eleven girl friends helped Judy Ann Jackson celebrate her eighth birthday Feb. 15. at a party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Jackson. After games, a pretty birthday cake and ice cream were served, after which Judy Ann opened gifts. Guests were Karen Savage, Sally Sue Miller, Lois Holland, Carolyn Booher, Mary Shaffer, Karen Walker, Karen Carter, Lois Boehm, Arlene Hatch, Janice Yager and Sharon Peterson.

SPORTSMEN SELECT YEAR’S COMMITTEE

The Bonner County Sportsmen’s assn. is set to carry on its 1950 activities, announced Neil Kenney, president. Standing committees are: Exhibits – Art Kalk, chairman, Les Gissel, Tim Vaughn, Ross Hall and Henry Viche; Big Game – Don Samuelson, chair, Bob Bottcher, Merle Samson, L. Schnell and Robert Mayo; Legislative – Carl Tifft, chair, Henry Ripke, Lyle Carlson and J.M. Brown Jr.; Entertainment – Lou Rahskopf, chair, Duane Davis and Kermit Miller; Publicity – Jim Parsons, chair; Safety – Paul Haecker, chair, Robert Ellersick, Matt Schmitt and K.O. Scott; Membership – Henry Ripke.
