Jan. 5, 1975 – 1974 IN REVIEW
Perhaps the most obvious thing 1974 brought to Bonner County was growth, both positive and negative. Crime and unemployment were on the rise, new homes sprang up everywhere, and the schools had to be restructured to handle a record number of children. More and more people came to the area seeking recreation, and late in 1974, Schweitzer Basin recorded its best day ever. In case anyone was not already convinced, 1974 proved that Bonner County is a place with a future.

CHRISTMAS PORTRAYAL AT HOPE CHURCH
“The Characters of Christmas” were graphically portrayed by the children of Lake View Bible Chapel in Hope. The well-attended presentation was ably directed by Robert Green, drama coach, who lives in Clark Fork and attends the Chapel. Stuart McAllister narrated and Alan Young read scripture. Shepherds, wise men, the innkeeper, Mary and Joseph were flawlessly depicted by an enthusiastic cast which included Ervin Ingraham, John Kinne, Bruce, Colin, Elizabeth and Victoria McAllister, Chris Widgren, Scott and Tamie Young. “Away in the Manger” was sung by a winsome quartet composed of Jenny Hottell, Brian Russell, Leanna and Shannon Widgren. The children were beautifully costumed under the direction of Mrs. David Kinne, who also directed the quartet and led group singing of “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Room for Jesus.”
