Jan. 7, 1975 – DAIRY WIVES MEET

Guest speakers at the recent Bonner County Dairy Wives dinner meeting at the Sandpoint Community Hall were Ray Delay, Director of Idaho Dairymen’s Assn., and Laura Glazier, Bonner County Dairy Princess, who showed pictures and told of her trip to Mexico. Loyce Shreffler, president, displayed the unit’s blue ribbon historian book, the new insulated milk pitchers the dairy wives will have for sale this year, and the new dairy product, “Moo Munchies.”

CLARK FORK NEWS by Diane Brashear

Exactly seven months from the day the first nail was hammered for the new Seventh Day Adventist Church, the doors opened for the first services on Dec. 21. Our best wishes to the new congregation!

Congratulations go out to Jerry DeBates, son of Mrs. Alice Meyer, who had several poems accepted by the National High School Poetry Press for its annual book, Anthology of High School Poetry.

NEW LAW ASSURES CREDIT FOR WOMEN

Under a new Federal Equal Credit Opportunity Act, women may no longer be denied credit simply because they are women. As of Oct. 28, 1975 – when the new law becomes effective – sex discrimination will be banned in granting credit.

GARBAGE PICKUP ON STREETS

Garbage will be picked up in the streets, not in the alleys in winter months when snow is on the ground.

Jan. 7, 1950 – YOUNG MEN TO BOISE

Kenton Martin of Ponderay left Dec. 29 for Boise where he entered the veterans administration hospital for treatment. Also going Dec. 22 to the V.A. hospital in Boise was Edward Kalb of route 2.

Miss Elaine Ellersick, who spent her Christmas holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ellersick, returned Monday to Spokane, where she is employed in bookkeeping work.

Friends of Robert Sawhill wish him much happiness as he began the New Year by being married at the Lutheran church in Sandpoint [to Aleatha M. Knudson] on Sunday evening, Jan.1. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. John Springer, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Judge, Mr. and Mrs. George Popplewell and family, Mr. and Mrs. August Fox and Johnny, Mr. and Mrs. Arlow Ground and family and the A.L. Sawhill family.

NEW TOURIST COURT

A new set of tourist cabins, the A-1 Motel, at the west edge of the city on the Dover highway, will be formally opened by Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Briggs in a few weeks. Modern in every detail, the four cabins with two more to be added next summer, will offer clean comfortable quarters to tourists.
