'Dropbox' screening highlights hope, community

| January 8, 2025 1:00 AM

The Sandpoint Church of the Nazarene is hosting a special screening of "The Dropbox" on Saturday, Jan. 18.

The showing will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene. The church is located at 477954 Highway 95 Ponderay. While a free event, donations of diapers will be accepted for clients of the 7B Care Clinic.

This is a free event, but if you would like you can bring diapers to help the clients at the clinic.

"The Dropbox" tells the story of South Korean pastor Lee Jong-rak and his mission to provide a safe surrender option for babies. The film sheds light on the challenges faced by vulnerable infants and the compassionate solutions that can save lives.

"The screening is more than just a movie event — it’s an opportunity to inspire action within our community," said Janine Shepard, executive director for Life Choices Pregnancy Center and 7B Care Clinic. "Alongside the film, we’ll host a diaper drive to support local families in need. Diaper donations will help ensure parents in crisis have access to essential resources, easing their burden and creating a tangible impact."

After the screening, Shepard will speak about the Baby Box in Sandpoint, a resource that provides a safe option for parents unable to care for their newborns. Her insights will help attendees better understand how they can support this life-saving initiative and raise awareness throughout the region.

Shepard encouraged other churches to consider hosting a screening of "The Dropbox" in their own congregations. Pairing the event with a diaper drive can unite communities around this crucial cause while directly supporting families in need. Shepard is available to give a short talk about the Baby Box program and its life-changing impact.

"Together, we can spread the message of hope, safety, and compassion for the most vulnerable in our community," she said. "Let’s take this step to make a difference — one screening, one diaper drive, and one life at a time."
