COEUR d’ALENE — On President Donald Trump’s inauguration day, local supporters organized a show of support for the 47th president of the United States on Monday.

Terri Seymour said she watched a broadcast of Trump's second inaugural address before quickly leaving to join the "Trump Train" with other supporters. People adorned their vehicles with pro-Trump banners and decorations before driving around town.

“It’s a time to celebrate, exciting times,” Seymour said.

Assisted by Steve Cochran, Seymour affixed a banner with the “Take America Back” and "Trump 2025" slogans to a vehicle in the parking lot of Lake City High School, which served as a staging ground for the impromptu parade.

Brent Regan, Kootenai County Republican Central Committee chairman, called the gathering “sort of a spontaneous thing.”

"It’s a celebration and a reason to be happy. Welcome to the golden age; it starts today,” Regan said, echoing the message in Trump’s inauguration speech.

Although the temperatures may have been cold outdoors as the vehicles were readied, they were greeted warmly by many in downtown Coeur d’Alene.

The convoy roared down Sherman Avenue around 12:30 p.m., flags whipping in the cold air as drivers honked their horns and waved or pumped their fists toward those they passed. Many motorists driving in the opposite direction matched the enthusiasm of the Trump supporters, honking and waving.
