SANDPOINT — A Bonner County housing organization has received a $2,500 grant from the WaFd Foundation.

The grant is aimed at supporting Bonner Community Housing Agency's mission to provide affordable housing solutions for residents of Bonner County and beyond. Organizers said the WaFd grant will help the agency address critical housing needs in the community.

The donation comes at a crucial time as it continues efforts to improve the quality of life for the county's low-income families, Chrystle Horvath, executive director of Bonner Community Housing Agency, said. Through a variety of programs and partnerships, BCHA is committed to ensuring that every resident has access to safe, stable, and affordable housing. With the WaFd Foundation’s contribution, BCHA will be to further expand its services, provide more housing options, and implement key initiatives to support community development.

"We are incredibly grateful to the WaFd Foundation for their generosity," Horvath said. "This donation will go a long way in helping us carry out our mission of creating affordable, accessible housing for individuals and families in need. It's a testament to the spirit of collaboration and community support that helps make Bonner County a great place to live."

The WaFd Foundation, the charitable arm of WaFd Bank, has a long-standing history of supporting nonprofit organizations that foster community growth, education, and well-being. Their continued investment in local initiatives, like those led by BCHA, reflects the foundation's commitment to making a positive impact in communities across its nine-state reach.

"This contribution is part of our ongoing commitment to support organizations that are making a difference in their communities," said Alisha Kowalski, representative of WaFd Bank and Sandpoint’s WaFd Foundation. "We are proud to partner with Bonner Community Housing Agency in their mission to provide affordable housing for those who need it most."

As BCHA moves forward with its goals for 2025, agency officials said the donation serves as an encouraging reminder of the power of community partnerships. It remains dedicated to building stronger, more resilient communities in Bonner County and beyond, Horvath said.
