The National Weather Service is anticipating heavy snow in the coming days and issued a winter weather advisory for the northern Panhandle Thursday afternoon.
Forecasters are predicting total snow accumulations between 4 and 9 inches in the valleys and 1-2 feet in the mountains; the winter storm warning will begin 7 a.m. Friday and expire 10 a.m. Saturday.
In a message, the NWS told residents that travel could be very difficult and that the conditions could impact Friday morning and evening commutes.
If travel is necessary, the agency recommended drivers keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in their vehicle in case of an emergency.
