ISP needs a few good troopers

| March 4, 2025 1:00 AM

The Idaho State Police is seeking individuals to join its ranks as commissioned troopers. Applications are open for the next ISP training academy, which begins in July.

“Serving as an ISP trooper is more than a career — it’s an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Idahoans,” said Lieutenant Colonel Fritz Zweigart, Chief of Operations.

The selection process includes a written examination, physical fitness test, oral interview, thorough background investigation, and medical and psychological evaluations.

ISP has openings in districts across the state, and applicants choose their preferred district.

According to the ISP website, a trooper's starting wage is $27.84 an hour.
