Beginning Buddhism class set to resume

| March 14, 2025 1:00 AM

Sravasti Abbey will resume its weekly teachings in Spokane on Beginning Buddhism, starting March 19.

The class meets Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at its new location, Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St. Led by a rotating pair of nuns from Sravasti Abbey, the class will rely on the book "Open Heart, Clear Mind" by Venerable Thubten Chodron, renowned Buddhist teacher and founder and abbess of Sravasti Abbey.

No registration is required and the class is offered on a donation basis. Although located at Spokane Buddhist Temple, the class is not affiliated with the temple.

Beginning Buddhism offers a solid foundation in understanding the Buddhist worldview from the Tibetan perspective. Venerables Thubten Jigme and Thubten Dekyi begin the spring session with a focus on working effectively with emotions. Classes will include time for discussion and Q&A, along with guided meditations. No prior experience is required, just an open and curious mind.
