Michele Monetta, 73
Michele Marie Monetta, 73, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, in Sandpoint, Idaho. She was not alone, and was loved. Surrounded by her family, she gained her wings.
She was born Jan. 15, 1952, to Bea and John Monetta in Toledo, Ohio. Michele, (Mike or Mickey), was the first born of six. She is also a mother to Lyndsy and a grandmother to Chase.
Michele was a bit of a wanderer, but spent 37 years in Sandpoint. She moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1971 when she was 19 years old. She also lived in Toledo growing up, Ketchum, Boise, Seattle, Cayucos/Morrow Bay, and Albuquerque. She loved adventure and road trips.
Michele was an inspired and knowledgeable woman. She was ferocious about the people and things she cared about. She was not an easy woman, she was brilliant, passionate, believed deeply in loyalty, respect, and integrity. She loved madly and expected even more. She impacted so many, being a leader, a way-shower, and a spiritual advisor.
She was my mom, and I think Bob Marley put it best, “If she’s amazing, she won’t be easy, if she’s easy, she won’t be amazing. If she’s worth it, you won’t give up. If you give up, you’re not worthy … Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you; you just have to find the ones worth suffering for.”
She is preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice, and brother Tim.
Michele is survived by her father, John Monetta; her siblings, Joan, Beth, Rob, and Amy; her daughter, Lyndsy (Aaron) Walson; and grandson Chase Yaw.
