March 23, 1975 – CITY CURFEW ENFORCED
A 1960 curfew law that has been slumbering on the books is now being enforced by Sandpoint City Police. The law calls for any juvenile under the age of 18 to be off the streets by 10:30 p.m. both week days and weekends. According to Police Chief Abbott, there have been some problems such as vandalism. “Businessmen requested action be taken and since this law is on the books, we felt it was the simplest solution.” The whistle at City Hall is being blown at 10 p.m., giving juveniles a half hour warning. Kids on the streets after 10:30 p.m. will be taken to the station and their parents called.
