A new era for Coeur d’Alene

A landmark project is set to reshape downtown Coeur d’Alene’s hospitality landscape, as Hagadone Hospitality officially broke ground on The Sherman Tower Tuesday, marking a significant expansion of The Coeur d’Alene Resort.

The project will add 139 rooms to the Newsweek-ranked #1 Waterfront Hotel, transforming a prime downtown block between 1st and 2nd streets along Sherman Avenue. More than just a hotel expansion, the development promises to become a dynamic social hub for both locals and tourists.

“When The Sherman Tower debuts, it will reflect the elevated hospitality The Coeur d’Alene Resort is known for, while introducing new experiences that enhance downtown’s vibrancy,” says Bill Reagan, president of The Coeur d’Alene Resort. “We’re not just building a hotel — we’re creating a place where locals and visitors alike can enjoy new dining, social spaces, and scenic views, all while driving economic growth for our beloved city.”

The Sherman Tower’s design reflects a modern approach to hospitality. It features a “living lobby” with plush seating and a grand fireplace anchored by a café that showcases rotating local art. A Standout feature will be a modern Mexican seafood and steakhouse restaurant offering live-fire grilled cuisine. The rooftop bar, with retractable glass walls, offers year-round panoramic views, craft cocktails, and street tacos.

Construction is slated to begin immediately, with a projected completion date in May 2027. The project is expected to create numerous local jobs and drive economic growth in the region.

“Sherman Tower will stand as a beacon of thoughtful growth — a place where modern luxury meets local charm, and where the city’s past and future come together in spectacular form,” a press release said.
