ST. MARIES — Sophomore Colton Kuprienko and junior Logan Troumbley both went 2-for-3 at the plate in the opener as the visiting Spartans split a 3A Central Idaho League doubleheader with the Lumberjacks on Thursday.
Priest River started off the game with a five-spot in the top of the first inning. Freshman Layton Goins ignited the rally with an RBI single to right field and sophomore Brayden Elder ended it with a bases-clearing, three-run double, also to right.
Trombley, in addition to two singles, got the nod on the mound and struck out three batters over two innings of work. Sophomore Broden Collins struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings in relief in the winning effort.
In the nightcap, sophomore Dave Findley hit an RBI single in the first inning, Collins an RBI single in fourth to make it a 6-5 game, but St. Maries rallied for nine straight runs to take game two.
Priest River (2-3, 2-3) will host Orofino for a league game today.

COEUR d'ALENE — Senior Drew Lehman tallied a combined five RBIs, which included a three-run homerun in the opener, as the visiting Bulldogs were swept by the Vikings in an Inland Empire League doubleheader held Thursday at Ted Page Field.
Senior Jesse Turner was 2-for-3 in the opener and hit an RBI double in the second inning to open the scoring. Down 4-2, junior Soren Caprio smashed a two-run double to center, and the very next at-bat, Lehman knocked a three-run homer to put the Bulldogs in front 7-4.
In the fifth, senior Jayden Kuprienko hit a two-run single, sophomore Brennan Shaw a sacrifice fly to put Sandpoint ahead 10-4. However, Coeur d'Alene rallied for seven runs over the final three frames and walked it off in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run single by Dylan Suitch.
In game two, which made it just five innings, the Bulldogs, which trailed 11-0 to start, rallied for a 6-spot in the fourth. Marshal Peters hit a two-run single, Caprio an RBI single, and Lehman a two-run single to cap off the rally.
Sandpoint (3-7, 2-4) will travel to Post Falls for an Inland Empire League doubleheader Saturday, April 5.

SANDPOINT — Freshman Bailey Wilson was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI single in the nightcap as the host Lady Bulldogs dropped a pair of Inland Empire League contests to the Lady Vikings on Thursday at War Memorial Field.
Freshman Marlee Stevens went the distance on the mound in game two and struck out five batters while senior Bailey Lancaster knocked a single.
In the opener, junior Cadence Skibitksy, who made multiple putouts at home from centerfield across both games, had a single as did fellow senior Abi Miller.
Sandpoint High head coach Leah Platt noted great play from freshman Avery Inge behind the plate and from sophomore Teagan Newsom at shortstop.
"The girls are competing and I think they're surprising some teams," Platt said. "They're hanging with the best around and we are so close to breaking out."
Sandpoint (1-9, 1-5) will host Lake City for an Inland Empire League doubleheader Tuesday, April 8.

SANDPOINT — The host Bulldogs posted four flawless games and swept boys singles, boys doubles and mixed doubles to earn their fourth straight win on Thursday at the James E. Russell Sports Center.
In boys singles, Jacob Dawson cruised to another win in the No. 1 spot and Joey Allen captured a 6-0, 6-0 win the No. 3 spot. For the girls, Pepper Rickert and Bella Bailey dominated yet again, also capturing 6-0, 6-0 victories on the night.
In doubles, Ethan Ballard and Brennan Johnson served to a 6-0, 6-1 win while Fisher Dail and Caden Martz went a perfect 6-0, 6-0 to cap off the sweep. For the girls, Aubrey Knowles and Amelia Poulson rolled to a straight sets victory for their fourth straight win on the season.
In mixed doubles, Avery Thornton and Lane Harris rallied to win a third-set tiebreaker while Colby Dyk and Morgan Harris rounded things out with the fourth 6-0, 6-0 win of the match.
Sandpoint (4-0) will travel to both Lewiston and Clarkston High today and tomorrow for the Larry McConnell Invitational.

PONDERAY — Junior Oliver Porietis netted his first four career varsity goals and picked up a team-high six groundballs as the host Bulldogs defeated the Knights by a 10-point margin in an IHSLL North Division game held Wednesday at the Field of Dreams.
Sophomore Kohta Fisher, who's now up to 11 goals on the season, also tallied four scores for the Bulldogs, which used an 8-2 second half scoring advantage to pull away. Freshman Justice Manske provided two goals and two assists, freshman Caiden Anthony two assists, and freshman Jason Symons his first career goal and assist in the winning effort.
Sophomore Ryan Gaffney had nine saves in between the posts for Sandpoint (2-2, 2-2), which travels to Coeur d'Alene on Wednesday, April 9 for another league matchup.
