Selkirk Fire, Rescue & EMS seeks rural live-in firefighters
SANDPOINT — Selkirk Fire, Rescue & EMS is seeking applicants for its resident firefighter program.
Successful candidates will live at one of the agency’s rural stations and serve as its lone firefighter.
The ideal applicant, staff said, is a self-starter looking to gain firefighting experience who can conduct themselves professionally with little or no oversight and maintain availability for incident response in their area.
Resident firefighters will be provided with a rent-free living space and will be expected to interact with the public and attend community events. Participants will be required to obtain an International Fire Service Accreditation Congress Firefighter I certification within one year and EMT-Basic certification within two years of joining the department.
To be considered, applicants must be 18 or older, have a high school diploma or GED, hold a valid driver’s license and pass a background check, drug screen and a physical abilities exam.
Prospective candidates should contact fire administrator Tammy Miller at tmiller@selkirkfire.us or 208-263-7929.
