This mid-19th-century wildlife fresco is a scene that artist Constantino Brumidi painted on a wall of the U.S. Capitol Building. It is derived from a watercolor of the Cataldo Mission that was painted by John Mix Stanley on a railroad expedition.

CATALDO — A piece of Idaho history has been on display in the U.S. Capitol Building for more than 150 years, but it wasn't until recently that anyone realized it.
