During the month of October, National Fire Prevention Month, Selkirk Fire, Rescue and EMS crews spent time in the local schools educating kids on fire prevention and safety. Firefighters reached a total of 1,000 residents throughout the month, highlighting planning ahead, working smoke alarms in the home/business and having a meeting place outside in case of a fire that everyone clearly knows ahead of time.
