The Sandpoint boys basketball team attended the Gonzaga University Basketball Camp last week in Spokane, playing several games per day against other high school teams from all over the Pacific Northwest, including an elite team from Japan. The last day of camp consisted of a “lose and go home” tournament. The Bulldogs stepped up under pressure and reeled off several wins in a row to advance to the final in their bracket, eventually losing a hard-fought championship game to Harry Ainley High School from Alberta, Canada. Stephen Gentry, the Director of Basketball Operations for Gonzaga Men’s Basketball, emailed new Sandpoint head coach Wade Engelson to say how impressed he was with the Sandpoint basketball team and how he looks forward to having the team attend next year.
